FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Please keep in mind that the listed hourly rates are only a BASE price. Most services I offer including piano entertainment and lessons are project based. I factor in several things including time spent performing or teaching, travel time, and other factors that take time including prep, rehearsals, equipment, etc. In most cases, the actual rate will be higher than the price listed! However, I always do my best to keep it as low as possible and fair for both parties 👌🏻
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, I get to know you, what your looking for, and do my best to accommodate everything you ask. For bookings, I ask questions to figure out what kind of music you’re looking for, or if the standard repertoire works. For lessons, I figure out your goals, and tailor my methods to get you there as effectively as possible using straightforward simple exercises.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
6+ years of music school (multiple fields of music) and a music degree. Over 2 decades of private study with some of the best music teachers Self study including books, online videos, and other research Many masterclasses with renowned musicians and producers both online and in-person Years of professional experience, personal discoveries & experimentation
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got my first gig after playing at my high school’s battle of the bands, I still remember it clearly. It was for an art show. It blew my mind something I loved could be “work.” Over the years it’s led to all kinds of amazing musical gigs and experiences.
I always had a passion for talking about music, so a few years later when the first person asked to study with me, teaching was a nice fit. I also gathered much information from the teachers I’ve had on the art of teaching, and worked to hone that craft as well. It takes more than just being a good musician to teach others how to become one.
